The challenge

The Mackay Isaac ESG Educational Website was a valuable static resource, but static pages can be hard to navigate for time-poor operators who need practical answers in context. ESG concepts, frameworks and next steps are unfamiliar to many small tourism businesses, so a traditional search-and-read experience creates friction and does not reveal where a business sits on its ESG journey or what to do next.

The platform response

Studio Ambira developed an AI-enabled ESG education and digital engagement strategy and designed a branded AI ESG assistant for integration into the Mackay Isaac Tourism website. The assistant draws from the Mackay Isaac ESG Guide, website content and approved external resources inside a controlled knowledge base, and structures the experience around a staged pathway: understand ESG, formalise action and demonstrate leadership.

  • Branded AI ESG assistant embedded in the Mackay Isaac Tourism digital visitor platform.
  • Controlled knowledge base connecting the Mackay Isaac ESG Guide, website content and approved external resources.
  • Staged capability pathway: understand ESG, formalise action and demonstrate leadership.
  • Source-controlled responses with responsible-use protections and clear guidance limitations.
  • Anonymous usage analytics to identify common questions, knowledge gaps and future content priorities.
  • Collaboration with BookEasy to support effective integration into the broader digital visitor platform.

AI-native by design

The assistant is not a general chatbot. It is grounded in approved regional and sector-specific ESG material, responds within declared guidance limitations, and routes users through a capability pathway rather than a single answer. The AI-native pattern is controlled context plus staged education: the system helps users understand where they are, what to consider next and when to seek deeper support.

Business value

The project created an accessible, always-available ESG learning and navigation tool tailored to the tourism sector and regional context. It extended the reach and practical value of the existing educational website, reduced the barriers for tourism operators seeking to understand and act on ESG, and enabled users to find relevant information through natural-language questions. It also established a scalable foundation that can expand as ESG requirements, resources and regional needs evolve.

See how ESG education becomes a guided, AI-native experience.
